Sirlute the YoungStar
Before starting at Pepper St. Studios, so much of me believed that it was just a recording studio where artists could come, record their tracks and leave. From the very first time I walked into the studio on my interview day, I’ve come to learn that this is way more than just that. Upon my entrance, I was greeted by the founder himself who feels so passionately for the business he’s creating and continues to build - it was hard not to fall in love with the concept of the studio. I genuinely just sat there thinking SIGN ME UP.
I learnt that one of the many things Sirlute stands for is giving the youth from deprived areas the platform and opportunity to learn about music from an insider's perspective. Having grown up in Tower Hamlets, himself, JR wants to give ‘youngsters’ a chance he never received to break out into the music industry, by providing workshops to learn about everything from production to performing. As a young musician myself, everything inside me was screaming ATTEND THE WORKSHOP but alas, I get the privilege of working for the company and thus I watch from a distance and allow others to take the space I would have so happily taken.
Sirlute the YoungStar is a youth programme run by Sirlute where we give people from ages 11-25 the opportunity to learn, to grow and to ultimately create their own music. We provide the perfect introduction workshop, where the fundamentals of music are broken down to the youth of today, allowing them to grasp the full concept and understanding of the music industry.
