TIKTOK FUTURES: POPLAR

Start Date: Saturday, 29th April 2023
Address: Making Space, E14 0NU
Time: 12PM - 4PM
Overview
Studio Futurall is collaborating with Sirlute on the Artist residency at Making Space Aberfeldy. The goal of the residency is to engage visitors, community members and young people with untold stories about the histories and futures of Poplar. In the first half of the residency, we will learn about the heritage, history and local memories of Poplar to surface stories that underpin the area's cultural identity. From there, we will conduct experiments in re-imagining and re-inventing these narratives for the future with young people and the local community.
Through collage, map making and video production, and by connecting young and old, these experiments will investigate how hidden cultural and community narratives of place can be surfaced, shared and strengthened through reimagining across generations.
Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to showcase your talent and be part of a movement that celebrates the past, present, and future of Poplar. Register now!
What you will learn
Join us for two half-day weekend workshops where you'll get the chance to use your creativity and imagination to make films about the past and future of Poplar.
You'll learn how to use storytelling, imagination techniques to create engaging and thought-provoking videos that will capture the essence of this vibrant neighbourhood.
You'll get the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals to play games, brainstorm ideas and learn from each other's perspectives and experiences. And after the workshops, your ideas and videos will be exhibited in the art gallery in Aberfeldy Village!!
