Sirlute Summer Camp '26 runs 17–27 August at Sirlute Studios. Free, ages 11–16, and it ends with a showcase.

On Monday 17 August, ten Macs get switched on at 7 Botanic Square, the camcorders come out of the cupboard, and a group of young people start making things.

Sirlute Summer Camp '26 is a free two-week creative programme for 11 to 16 year olds, running Monday to Thursday, 12pm to 4pm, across both weeks of the second half of the summer holidays. No experience needed, nothing to buy, nothing to bring. Refreshments are provided. J.R Josephs is delivering it.

Registration is open now, and places are limited by the number of machines in the building.

Two strands, one fortnight

Every young person can do both.

Music Production & Songwriting. Working in Logic Pro, the same software the tracks you listen to were built in. Digging through sounds and Logic's own sample library, building a beat from the ground up, adding live parts on the keyboards, then writing to it. Structure, hooks, how to say something in sixteen bars.

Content Creation. Blackmagic camcorders, phones and CapCut. Groups take a "life scenario" idea, a day in the life, first day at a new school, sibling rivalry, rating each other's fits, storyboard it, shoot it, and cut it.

Week one you learn it. Week two you finish it.

The camp is built to progress, not to repeat.

Week 1 (17–20 August) is foundations. Monday and Tuesday go on Logic Pro, sample selection, arrangement and the first drafts of lyrics. Wednesday and Thursday move onto camera, theme development and storyboarding, so every group leaves with a shot list ready to film.

Week 2 (24–27 August) is delivery. Monday and Tuesday are recording, mixing and rehearsing. Wednesday is filming. Thursday is the edit.

It ends with a family and friends showcase.

At 3pm on Thursday 27 August, family and friends come in for a showcase. The films get screened. The tracks get played, or performed live.

That's the part that matters. Plenty of young people have made a beat on a phone before. Far fewer have finished something, put their name on it, and stood in a room while other people watched it.

What's in the building:

Ten studio Macs running Logic Pro and CapCut.
Seven MIDI keyboards shared across the group.
Headphones for every music session.
Blackmagic camcorders, plus phones for the shoots.
There are also ten places for young people who'd rather work on their own laptop and each of those gets a free copy of Logic Pro and FL Studio.
First come, first served.

Why it's free

It has been free every year since we started, and this one is no different. Sirlute delivers free creative learning, mentoring and training to young people aged 5 to 25 across London, funded by our events, our studio work and people who donate. Summer is the moment it counts most, six weeks is a long time when there's nowhere to go and nothing costs less than a ticket.
