FREE CREATIVE LEARNING PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN LONDON

Learn the thing you actually want to do.

Everything here is free. You don't need experience, equipment, or qualifications; you need to turn up.

Sirlute runs free creative courses for young people across London in four areas: music, fashion, multimedia and game design. You'll learn on the same software and kit the industry uses, taught by people who work in it. Not a teacher reading off a slide. Someone who does this for a living.

And it doesn't stop when the course does. Every young person who comes through a programme gets a personal development plan and at least twelve months of aftercare, so when you finish, you know what you're doing next.

Industries

Music

Learn music production on Logic Pro and FL Studio; how drums, chords and melodies actually work, and how to take a track from an idea to something finished. If you're an artist rather than a producer, we cover songwriting, performing and media training, plus the business side nobody teaches you.

Fashion

Fashion isn't just designing clothes, and you don't need to be able to draw. With UAL's London College of Fashion you'll build a digital portfolio, develop a marketing campaign and produce a real fashion event from the ground up. You'll work to real deadlines and leave with a body of work, not a certificate in a drawer.

Multimedia

Get behind a camera and learn to shoot and edit properly; storyboarding, filming, sound and post-production. You'll also learn to interview people, write about culture in your own voice and design things people actually want to look at, a lot of it through It's A Mag Ting, our youth-led magazine. You leave with a portfolio, a showreel.

Game Design

You've spent years inside other people's games; this is where you build your own. You'll take an idea to something playable: characters, worlds, story and the code that makes it run. Gaming is one of the hardest industries to get into if you don't know anyone in it, which is exactly why we teach it.

A YxngStar is what we call a young person who's part of Sirlute, not a student on a course, but someone in the community for good. Sign up once and you get free access to our studios and equipment, a place on our programmes across music, fashion, multimedia and game design, and a mentor who knows your name and what you're working towards. You'll get a personal development plan tailored to you and at least 12 months of support after any programme ends, so you always know what's next.

Plenty of our YxngStars have gone from turning up to a first session to leading them; volunteers become young leaders, young leaders become paid staff. It costs nothing, and it doesn't expire.

You know which young people need it. We design and deliver the programme at our studios in East London or in partnership with your setting.

Our programmes are mapped to the Gatsby Benchmarks for good career guidance, so what we deliver counts towards your own careers provision rather than sitting alongside it.
